From the moment you land at Mahe and are greeted personally by Soneva staff you know you are going to be well looked after. Check in takes place in the Soneva's own lounge which relaxes you after a long flight and you have the reassurance of knowing that once you arrive at the island you can go straight to your room. Everything is thought of here - the check in form asks you everything from what kind of fragrance in your room to toiletries in your bathroom, drinks you prefer in your mini bar and even the style of music you would like to have on the sound system when you get to your villa. The seaplane transfer is spectacular, the most beautiful transfer I think you could ever have as you fly over other islands in the Maldives it is simply stunning. On arrival you are met by your own 'man Friday' who is assigned to you during your stay to look after you. The staff even know your name once you arrive which is a real personal touch. The rooms are fantastic, great size and everything is thought about. The island has the theme of barefoot luxury which literally sums up Soneva Fushi. The rooms are luxurious but in a traditional Maldivian style, you really do know you have arrived in the Maldives when you arrive here. So many little touches to mention but one of the quirky things here is that as the resort is barefoot, there are little hedgehog foot brushes at your door to remove the sand from your feet! As this is a large island each guest gets a bike to cycle round. The rooms are well spaced out and you can sit on the beach and litterally feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, perfect relaxation. During my stay here I sampled the sandbank sunset reception, dolphin watch, desert island picnic, wine tasting evening and also a night at the open air cinema (fantastic experience sitting under the stars on the beach to watch a film). The staff here really cant do enough for you, nothing is too much trouble. A lot of the ingrediants for the dishes is grown on the islands own garden and there were a few in my group with dietary requirements which didnt phase the chef at all, Although children can be accommodated (the man Friday's can also be a child minding or baby sitting service) there is no kids club on the island but staff would be more than happy to welcome them with open arms. This island is perfect for honeymooners and couples mainly. It is well worth treating yourself and staying here as this really would give you a taste of what the real Maldives is all about.

Tips
If you can stretch to it, treat yourself to a couple of nights at the end of your stay at the sister property Soneva Gili for the ultimate Maldives experience
Treat yourself to one of the excursions on offer - the dolphin watch is a must as is the desert island picnic
