The Banyan Tree Phuket is an ultra luxury sprawling resort based aroung a lagoon. Getting around the resort is usually by buggy and the sheer distance you'd need to walk to get to any facilities means that you'd either stay in your villa, or call for a buggy.
Not that staying in your villa is a bad thing. The villas, particularly the pool villas, are stunning. These rally are designed for romantic couples that want to keep themselves to themselves. Hence, although the main pool is very nice, it is rarely crowded, as most people tend to use the pool in the villa. Likewise with the beach.
The restaurants are excellent, but guests also have an in villa dining option, which is very popular.
The spa also happens to be rated as one of the best in the world. A great honeymooners resort, but not one for those that want to sit on a beach.
