very relaxing stay at Sheraton Full Moon

The Full Moon Resort and Spa is located only a short speed boat ride from Male airport - which is great after the long flight. Although you can see Male quite clearly during the day, and the lights twinkle of an evening, this does not spoil the desert island feel of the resort. Our check in was efficient and informative, and also quick - so we were in our Island Cottage before we knew it! The layout of the resort means that it never feels busy, it was always easy to find a sunlounger (they are dotted everywhere) no matter what time of day. The beach never felt full, and was very peaceful and serene. The Island Cottage was gorgeous, set amongst trees and flowering shrubs, but close to the beach, 2 min walk, and all the restaurants etc. It was well equipped and well looked after by our room attendant. Tea and Coffee making facilities are provided and towels, as well as beach towels, are changed twice a day if required. The bed is comfortable, there is an outside deck area with recliners and a small table, but it was the half outside bathroom that was the highlight for us - amazing to shower in the open air, looking up at the stars and the fruit bats! The food in all the restaurants we tried (Sandcoast, Sea Salt, Baan Thai and Feast) was great and offered an astounding choice for every palate. The swimming pool looks gorgeous, but we did not use it; we went for the Ocean! The Spa is located on its own island and is very beautiful, I visited on our one rainy day and it was relaxing and spoiling. All the staff we encountered - in guest services, in the restaurants and bars, and our room attendant - were friendly and professional, the whole place is extraordinarily well organised and managed. It looks absolutely beautiful and feels happy. The glorious Indian Ocean was warm, even in the rain! Downside is there is no house reef at the resort, but private trips are easily organised to see corals and underwater life nearby (as well as excursions catering to larger groups which are cheaper). We did snorkle in the lagoon and around the water villas and there is quite a bit to see, but its obviously not as good as a living reef - but its clearly stated that the resort has no house reef, so we were aware before we arrived. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and it was hard to leave, 6 days was definately not enough!, and we would wholeheartedly recommend the resort, we loved it.
